Though each region has its different climate (the North, Central, and South), you still have an incredible trip at the best time, depending on your need.
However, if weather is the most important factor to you, opt for March - April & September - October as this time is suitable for traveling around the entire country because of the nice weather and low cancellation chance of bad weather.

Generally, Vietnam is considered an ideal destination for tourists, especially solo travelers, since countless international visitors find that it is very safe. There are many factors that make this country become one of the most recommended places to visit in Asia:
- Political Stability: As a single-party socialist republic country, Vietnam has only one party system led by the Communist Party, so the political situation is quite stable.
- Low Crime Rate: Compared to many Western countries, the crime rate here is very low, and violent crimes toward foreigners are extremely rare. Moreover, the government has many strict measures to maintain safety all over the country, which prevents Vietnam from any terrorism.
- Nice Locals: The final reason making Vietnam the recommended place to visit is that Vietnamese people are kind and hospitable. Local people here are always willing to support and give directions to foreigners if they need any help.
Covid-19 Pandemic: Currently, travelers can feel comfortable while our country has stopped all Covid-19 requirements for overseas visitors as of May 15, 2022. As a result, admission into Vietnam is currently the same as it was before the epidemic.
Yes, you should. Though Travel Insurance is not always mandatory for international travel, buying it is still a wise decision since the insurance will prevent you from unpredictable financial losses.
Medical emergencies, flight cancellations, money losses, etc., can happen at any time during your future trip - and when they occur, the insurance will work and take care of your expenses. Hence, Travel Insurance is very important for your trip.
It’s highly recommended to buy Travel Insurance in your country before the journey. If you need help buying insurance, contact our sales consultants for support.

Generally, when traveling to Vietnam, you have to notice two important things about the electricity in this country - plugs and voltage:
- The common electricity voltage here is 220 Volt at 50 Hz
The thing you should do first is checking your device’s details - if there is a line like “100 - 240V, 50 - 60Hz”, that means your device can fit different voltage levels from 100 to 240 Volt, from 50 to 60 Hz.
Otherwise, you will need a converter to change the initial voltage to match the device specifications. You can buy it at any electric store in Vietnam with a price of US $4 - 8.
- 3 sorts of plugs can be used in Vietnam: Type A, Type C, and Type F
Most electrical outlets in Vietnam have 2 holes, which is only suitable for two-pin plugs, including Type A (two flat vertical pins), Type C & Type F (two round pins). Three-pin plugs will require an adapter to be usable.
Like the converter, an adapter can also be found at electric stores with a price of US $1 - 4.
Small note: You can ask the receptionists to borrow one at your hotels as an alternative option.
Currently, Vietnam is positioned 39th on the global fixed internet ranking while standing 52nd in mobile internet speed. Thus, accessing internet in this country is as easy as pie. Excluding some specific places such as secluded mountainous areas, free WiFi can be found in airports, coffee shops, restaurants, and hotels.
However, the free WiFi may not be fast and stable, you should purchase a 3G/ 4G SIM card to access Internet at any time of day. A Vietnamese SIM is not too expensive, about USD $10, and you can find them at airports, phone stores, or mobile network providers’ stores:
SIM Card Providers | Price Per 4G SIM |
---|---|
Viettel | From US $10 - 27 |
Vinafone | From US $9 - 21 |
Mobifone | From US $6 - 13 |
Tipping is not compulsory since it’s not part of Vietnam culture, you do not have to tip everywhere when traveling in the country. You can choose to tip as a thank you to the staff providing you with good services, they will be happy and highly appreciate that.
If you are wondering how much is suitable for tipping, check out our suggestions below:
Tour guide |
Private Tours: US $7 - 10 Group Tours: US $3 - 5 |
Taxi driver | US $3 - 5 |
Bellman | US $2 - 4 |
Housekeeper | About US $2 |
Restaurant Waiter/Waitress | US $1 - 3 |
Spa Staff | US $5 - 8 |
Travelers from small-group tours rarely go together from the beginning until the end. They usually meet each other halfway because they can partly customize the journey, leading to great participation and wonderful experiences when meeting new friends.

Guides
Hanoi: Our guide was a gem—knowledgeable, engaging, and really added depth to our time there.
Hoi An: Interesting and enthusiastic, but communication was a bit of a challenge due to limited English skills.
Ho Chi Minh City: Easily one of the best guides we've ever had! A fantastic personality, fluent English, and an overall wonderful experience.
Siem Reap: Another standout guide. They were incredibly knowledgeable, polite, and genuinely caring, which made our visit extra special.
Thailand: Mixed experiences here. The first day’s guide struggled with English and didn’t offer much explanation, which was disappointing. In contrast, the guide on the second day was outstanding—knowledgeable, friendly, and truly memorable, rivaling the guide in Siem Reap as the best of the trip.
Accommodation
Hotel in Hanoi: Fair to good. It met basic expectations but wasn’t particularly remarkable.
Halong Bay Cruise: Absolute perfection! The cruise was a highlight, with excellent service and an unforgettable experience.
Hotel in Cambodia: Disappointingly fair—definitely not up to the standard we had hoped for.
Hotel in Hoi An: A good choice overall, though the shower was problematic. On a brighter note, breakfast was excellent!
Hotel in Thailand: This was the low point of our accommodations. The hotel was underwhelming, and the breakfast was particularly poor.
The trip had its share of incredible highlights, especially the Halong Bay Cruise and the exceptional guides in Ho Chi Minh City, Siem Reap, and Thailand (second day). While some accommodations didn’t live up to expectations, the warmth, knowledge, and personality of the best guides made the journey truly unforgettable. Less

We had a great day around Saigon yesterday, and we are glad we added the Cu Chi tunnels it was really interesting, and the guide was particularly good (Jason). We loved Hoi An, and the hotel there was especially good (real attention to detail). The guide (Trieu) was very informative and attentive. So far, we have loved our time in Vietnam!!
Hi Rosie!

Nam in Hanoi was great, zipped us around town showing us all the top sites with the perfect amount of time in each place. He provided me a SIM card and offered us other ideas to do in the evening and gave us all the info we needed.

He was also… More I wanted to say that all the guides except the Angkor Wat guide were great. The Angkor Wat guide wasn’t so nice! He kept talking a lot like he had memorised a script. He spoke fast and was quite hard to understand. He also seemed a bit annoyed when we wanted a toilet and water to drink. He was also very keen for us to use his recommended massages - and to book more tours with him (we didn’t). The guides in Hoi An and around the Mekong delta were the best. All the hotels were excellent - especially the first Hanoi hotel, Hue, Chau Doc, Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. Best breakfast was at Can Tho ( sorry I can’t remember their names….) Kate, Brenda and Vicky might not agree! The best hairdresser was at the Hue hotel (actually the only one I tried) where I got the best haircut I have ever had! Thank you again for everything you did for us. Less
