Cho Lach
Cho Lach is a market in center of Cho Lach District, Ben Tre Province with over hundreds of years of development.
Situated between the Ham Luong and Co Chien Rivers, Cho Lach has abundant silt, vast sand dunes, lush orchards and prosperity – nowadays especially bonsai prosperity. It is very popular for its specialty of ornamental animal plants, ornamental shape plants, uniquely shaped by skilled hands of artisans. There are several attractions at Cho Lach that visitors find simple yet adorable. It is considered a “paradise” for fruit lovers. With sufficient infrastructure modification and more effective promotional strategy, Cho Lach may very well compete with the other modern tourism sites and mark its name worldwide.
Talk about Ben Tre province, people will immediately think about coconuts – the symbol of this land. But if you have an opportunity to visit Cho Lach, you will be stunned because there are much more to see than just coconuts. There are hundreds kinds of trees and flowers here. Cho Lach district has many rivers and channels, rich soil and perfect weather. People here can produce the best farm products in Vietnam.
Today, Cho Lach is the “Kingdom of fruits”, attracting thousands of tourist every year by both Vietnamese and foreigners. From Ben Tre city center, cross Ham Luong bridge, keep going on the highway number 60 about 11km you will reach Mo Cay town. Continue going on the highway number 57 about 43km, you will finally reach Cho Lach district, you can take the bus number 08 to get there conveniently.
Fresh tropical fruits
Visiting Cho Lach, you shouldn’t miss the Cai Mon fruit garden. Visiting the garden, you will be stunned by thousands of trees ready to harvest. There’re all kind of tropical fruits here like lime, papaya, guava, jack fruit, etc. You can pick the fruit yourself and taste them right at the garden. The local guide will introduce and explain to you how to take care of the specific trees to have the best products. Besides fruit, Cho Lach also has many kinds of flowers, especially roses, dozens of roses. People here export their products worldwide. You will also have chance to visit Cai Mon church, built in 1872, one of the largest ancient church in Southern Vietnam. The church is 57 meters high with 6 cooper bells made in France with the total weigh over 4 tons.
