1. Ham Ninh fishing village

Ham Ninh is one of the most popular fishing villages in Phu Quoc which is located in Ham Ninh commune, only 15 kilometers from Duong Dong town to the Southeast. The ancient village nestled at the foot of the Ham Ninh mountain range, with mountains and forests at the back and the immense sea at the front.

The fishing village still retains its simplicity and pristine condition, which has not been affected much by tourism activities. Local people here live on sea fishing, crab and shrimp catching, and nudibranchs and pearl catching. Houses here remain primitive features with cottage roofs and bamboo wattles.

The best time to enjoy the beauty in this village is in the early morning when the fishermen go offshore to the net, catch fish, cucumber sea, diving to find the pearl, etc. The sun shines on the sea and reflects the image of the mountain, the fishing boats, and the fishermen. Coming to Ham Ninh, you can also visit Bai Vong wharf or swim at Ham Ninh beach.

How to get to Ham Ninh fishing village: From Phu Quoc airport, you can go to the center of town in the direction of the road to Nam Dao and follow the TL47 route to the East. Alternatively, you can go from Ha Tien or Rach Gia by speed boat.

2. Hon Thom fishing village

Another famous fishing village in Phu Quoc is Hon Thom fishing village, located in An Thoi archipelago, 30 minutes from An Thoi port. The fishing village is not large, but it has significant potential in developing tourism and aquaculture.

After 30 minutes of traveling by boat from An Thoi port, you will arrive at Hon Thom Island which has beautiful sceneries. The island owns fine yellow sand, coconut trees running along the crystal-clear seawater beach. Next to the beach, you can see local people knitting net in the temporary houses, which is really impressive, and give you a feeling of tranquility

Coming here, tourists will have the opportunity to snorkel and watch coral reefs, or the rare sea creatures such as turtles, abalone, grouper, etc. In addition, you can also go fishing with the fishermen to experience the life of a fisherman or try to conquer the rocks outside the rapids to get unforgettable experiences.

3. Ganh Dau fishing village

Ganh Dau fishing village is a small and untouched village with deep blue sea and smooth yellow sand in Chuong Vich, Ganh Dau, Phu Quoc. It is about 20 kilometers from the center of Duong Dong town.

Coming here, tourists will feel surprised because of the combination of mountains, forests, sea, and friendly local people. The landscape in Ganh Dau Cape is peaceful with crystal sea, smooth yellow sand, and rock rapids in various shapes. The crescent-shaped beach is surrounded by palm forests.

When on this beautiful island, you can easily catch up with familiar images of fishermen’s daily life activities, either fishing boat mooring in the port, or going to catch fish. All the images are impressive. Moreover, at the end of Ganh Dau Cape, there are many rocks of fantasy shapes where you can take beautiful pictures.

4. Rach Tram fishing village

Rach Tram fishing village is located in the north, the furthest place on Phu Quoc island, so it is almost separate from everything outside. After overcoming the hard road to the village, you will see beautiful and unspoiled, and peaceful Rach Tram village. The fishing village of Rach Tram used to be the residence of Cambodian people who crossed the border to Vietnam, but now there are only a few households in the village.

Coming to Rach Tram fishing village, you feel is the absolute peace, unlike the noise in the center of Phu Quoc Island. Standing on the raft house, you will feel yourself so small between the immense sea. Besides, the village is the ideal place to see how local fishermen do their daily job. You can go offshore fishing with local people, taste the fresh and delicious seafood catch by them, or just enjoy the unspoiled beauties of the sea. 5. Cua Can fishing village

Cua Can fishing village is located in the north and about 14 km from Duong Dong town, a few kilometers from Ong Lang beach. It is a small, and peaceful village beside a secluded beach.

Coming to this beautiful fishing village, visitors can take a walk on Cua Can River and admire the scenery. Moreover, you can go fishing with fishermen to enjoy the sea scenery and learn about the daily life of coastal fishermen, or just admire the large and small trains returning to the mainland filled with fish and shrimp. If you are adventurous you can join kayaking along Cua Can river to explore the primeval forest.
