Things to know about Hien Luong Bridge
Did you know?
During this period, the bridge is divided into 2 parts with 2 different colors: yellow - blue. In the beginning, the US government in Sai Gon painted half of the bridge blue, as a sign of Vietnam’s separation. However, right after that, the North government immediately change the rest from yellow to blue, with the opposite intention of country unification. As a result, the bridge switched its color repeatedly - when one side changed color, the remaining side was instantly painted the same color.
Hien Luong Bridge In The Past
During the Vietnam War, the Hien Luong Bridge could not avoid being destroyed by bombs in 1967. Nowadays, the bridge we see was restored with the same design in the past with two separate colors to emphasize Vietnamese people’s fiery desire of reunifying the North and South areas.
