Rach Gia Guide - All you need to know
Rach Gia is considered as a beach city of Mekong Delta. It is the administrative centre of economic and also important hub transport of Kien Giang Province. Tourists will experience simple daily life of local people and visit historical pagodas here.
Rach Gia beach is located in Rach Gia with long coast and stretch of coconut trees. Lying on a deckchair on the shade of trees brings you a relaxed time. However, the beach is not an attraction of this place; tourists love Rach Gia because of its diversified cultures. Rach Gia culture is the combination of Vietnamese, Chinese and Khmer because they are not only local inhabitants, but also the people who contribute to build pagodas, temples and many others constructions along Southern area in Vietnam.
Because of many different religions, Rach Gia includes more than 40 places of worship and they reflect clearly unique characteristics of each religion.For example, Cong Tam Quan was established based on Vietnamese culture, Rach Gia church is a place of worshipping Christianity and Tam Bao pagoda is a place of worshipping Buddhism.
Nguyen Trung Truc pagoda
Nguyen Trung Truc was a hero in the war Vietnam against French; contributed to the success of Vietnam. Nguyen Trung Truc pagoda was built based on ancient architecture and inside area has Nguyen Trung Truc altar and small shrines for worship fairies, and other heroes like Pho Co Dieu, Lam Quang Ky.
Each year, in August of Lunar calendar, Nguyen Trung Truc pagoda attracts more than 800 visitors come here to attend his death anniversary and express their respects to him. In this anniversary, besides solemn rites, people perform folk dance, traditional songs, etc
