About Vietravel Airlines
Vietravel Airlines is a purely Vietnamese airline, only invested by domestic stakeholders. On May 7th, 2020, Vietravel Airlines celebrated an official establishment by announcing the approval of Vietnam’s Prime Minister for its investment policy. Previously, on April 3rd, Deputy Prime Minister signed Decision No.457/QD-TTG with a view to approving the Vietravel Airlines project with a total investment capital of VND 700 billion (over USD 30 million) and the headquarter at Phu Bai International Airport, Thua Thien Hue Province.

Vietravel Airlines offers travelers various choices of flights to Vietnam
Before receiving the aviation permission on 25th October 2020, most people still doubt the chance that Vietravel Airlines can operate its flights in 2021 as the plan of opening a new airline was announced by its headquarter in 2018, which means 3 years ago and people hardly heard anything about this airline since then.
Airplanes of Vietravel Airlines
In the early morning of 5th December 2020, the first aircraft of Vietravel landed at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, only 1 month after the airline was granted its aviation permission from the Vietnam government. This airplane is the Airbus A321CEO with 220 seats and it will be the only active aircraft of this airline in the first half of 2021.
In the first year of operation, the estimated target of Vietravel Airlines is around one million passengers including either its own tourists or general passengers. It is also scheduled that the airline will start with a fleet of 3 airliners in the first year and with expansion of the fleet to 8 airplanes in the 5th year of operation. There will be different types of Vietravel Airlines’ aircraft such as Airbus’s A321neo, Boeing’s 737, and others.
In fact, the number of airplanes owned by Vietravel Airlines is quite modest compared with other Vietnamese airlines. However, it is nothing surprising. Vietravel Airlines’s CEO – Mr. Vu Duc Bien affirmed that deciding to open the airline in the middle of the COVID-19 outbreak is risky; however, it is also a chance as they can take advantage of the low cost of hiring employees and buying new airplanes.
Flight Routes of Vietravel Airlines
At present, Vietravel only owns 1 airplane, therefore, they haven’t sold tickets publicly yet, and only charter flights are available. However, when the airline receives all 3 planes that they bought, obviously, it will open for daily commercial flights. As planned, this year, the airline only provides flights for domestic routes due to the impact of COVID-19 and its ability as a new airline. In 2021, flights between Hanoi, Hue, and Ho Chi Minh City will be available, before more flights to other destinations in Vietnam will be opened in 2022.
For international flights to Vietnam, Vietravel's vision is that in the near future, the flight network will include main destinations in Southeast Asia like Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and other targeted countries like Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, China, and Australia.
