Wat Leu Temple
Wat Leu, one of the five main temples in Sihanoukville, is known as a religious and architectural site.
Wat Leu is one of the five main temples in Sihanoukville. It is situated on the Sihanoukville Mountain only 6 km away from the town. On a hill, in the middle of a forest, the temple is surrounded by a large stone wall, overlooking the city and the neighboring islands.
There is a three-head white elephant beautifully carved out of the stone wall with three statues of Buddha on each of the three heads of the elephant. In front of the stairs leading to the temple door is a large statue of Lord Buddha made of black stones. Wat Leu is often called the Upper Wat, compared to Wat Kraom - the Lower Wat.

Not only known for its religious and historic attraction, Wat Leu is also significant for its architecture. The temple is colored in gold with thatched roofs while the pagodas are resembled by traditional design. Besides, the top hill offers fabulous views of surrounded forest and the islands nearby. It’s best to behold the entire city and catch a stunning sunset.

Visitors can take a 3-hour bus ride towards southwest from Phnom Penh or a boat from Koh Kong to reach Wat Leu.
